TESCO – Brand Values Go Dotty (2000) Vincent Allen, playing Harry, a hapless in-store market researcher, gets more than he bargains for when he approaches Dotty (Prunella Scales) to enquire if she thinks the store is living up to it’s brand values. After nicking his clip-board she causes mayhem around the store whilst Harry tags along struggling to retrieve it.
Ibiza Uncovered II Commercial (Sky One) (2000)
Filmed to promote a series of Ibiza uncovered, this advert was one of six which followed the fortunes of a lad whose girlfriend was going away to the resort for a holiday. Whilst down the pub the unease he feels finds small relief from the attitude of his drinking partner (Vincent Allen) who does precious little to allay his fears of her possible infidelity.
Knight Rider TV Commercial (Bravo Television) (2000)
Not ‘Arfur Daley’, but not too far removed, as Vincent Allen, playing a smooth used car salesman, tries to flog you the original Knight Industries, fully computerised wonder car. It’s a snip! at just $11,400,000!
The Funny Business (B.B.C 2 / Tiger Aspect) (1991)
Featuring John Cleese, this episode was constructed around the making of a fictitious television documentary on ‘bad taste’ comedy. The story within a story, finds Vincent Allen as ‘Dave’, the production’s accountant, who had his work cut out trying to keep the director’s (Hugh Armstrong) expense account somewhere within the realms of reality!
Minder (Thames TV / Euston Films) (1984)
Filmed in March, 1984 by EUSTON FILMS this MINDER episode first saw the light of day on the 1st of January 1985. It was part of the 5th series and the 56th episode made. As well as the main stars, George Cole and Dennis Waterman, it also featured, June Brown, who’s better known to millions of T.V viewers as ‘Dot Cotton from B.B.C television’s EASTENDERS.
Shock Opera (I.L.E.A Television) (1984)
Written by Howard Schuman (Rock Follies) the narrative follows some borstal kids taken to ‘Detention Television’ to perform a skinhead version of Mozart’s ‘Don Giovanni’ set in Hackney; master piece of W.R Bennett Junior (Joe Melia). Vincent Allen, plays psychopathic skinhead and arsonist, Denis Johnson. (click on the picture for an additional clip)
The History of Money (I.L.E.A Television) (1984)
Turning his hand to ‘direct to camera’ t.v presenting for the first time, Vincent teams up with Jane Nash to enlighten the viewer on the history of our monetry system from bartering to credit cards. One of a series of six, this was filmed in 1984 at the, then, Inner London education authority’s (I.L.E.A’s) own studios in Clapham, London.
The Prestige Jar & Bottle Opener Commercial (Relay Films) (1991)
He gripped it, pulled it, shook it and twisted it but still this cheeky chef couldn’t pop his cork! Enter the latest innovation in kitchen utensils ‘The Prestige Jar & bottle opener’… that soon made his head turn!
Trident Chewing Gum Commercial (Topic Films Zurich) (1991)
This featured commercial was filmed in Zurich. Taking no chances on missing their target audience the producers filmed the original auditions on video and presented the results to a group of high school teenagers in Switzerland with the brief to ‘pick the funniest’. Vincent Allen landed the job and the commercial was screened successfully for nearly a year.
Chas & Dave – Margate (Promotional Video) (1982)
At the height of their fame in the early 1980′s, Vincent Allen was adopted by Chas & Dave as one of their resident ‘spivs’. Work with them included ‘Top of the Pops’ for their 1981 hit ‘Stars over 45′ and this video for their 1982 hit ‘Margate’. Admittedly, Vincent’s appearance in this video is not of epic proportion, but the video is incuded here for fun and posterity.
